Itinerary
Departure from Nairobi at 7:00 am towards the Masai Mara. During the journey we will cross the splendid landscapes of the Great Rift Valley where we will make a short stop to admire and photograph the suggestive panorama.
We are scheduled to arrive at the Mara Gate at 12:00 and after completing the entry formalities, we will begin our first photo safari towards the “camp or lodge on request” in search of the big cats, which are very numerous in the park.
The Masai Mara reserve is probably the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking shows as well as, of course, an extraordinary density of animals, including the “Big Five” and a notable variety of fauna and flora: the immense plain, the rounded hills, the rainforests and the acacia woods.
The predominant characteristic is the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles which from the Serengeti plain in Tanzania, crossing the border with Kenya and the river of the same name, reach the grasslands of the Masai Mara. The migration begins towards the end of June and is followed by large predators (a period of intense hunting activity begins for them): lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas while vultures and other birds of prey circle in the sky. Apart from the seasonal migration, the fauna is abundant all year round: elephants, black rhinos, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, zebras and big cats.
Arrival at the camp at 1.00 pm, check-in, lunch and relaxation. At 3.00 pm departure for another game drive until sunset in search of elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffaloes and other typical animals of the savannah. Return to camp at 6.30pm for dinner and overnight stay.
Full day to explore the vast plains of the Masai Mara, starting before breakfast with a game drive at the crack of dawn, the best time to immortalise the animals searching for their meal.
The Mara is magical in the morning: birds singing, the morning air smelling crisp and fresh, and wildlife just waking up to greet the day. Zebras walk, Giraffes watch you while they have breakfast and nibble acacia leaves, elephants walk noisily; you might even come across a family of lions feeding together from the night before’s kill or a leopard snoozing in a tree.
After this first game drive of the day, return to the camp, breakfast, and departure again for another game drive with our packed lunch (prepared by our tented camp) until lunch time.
This time we will dedicate ourselves entirely to the spectacle of the great wildebeest migration; the migrating herds (zebras, wildebeests, elands, Thomson and grant gazelles) that participate in the wildebeest migration are present in the Mara plains from mid-July to mid-October, as well as elephants, lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos and many others….
We will reach the banks of the Mara river, a migration point, where the complicated and dramatic crossing of the river takes place, but it is also the point for spotting crocodiles and hippos. At 1.00 pm your driver will find a quiet place under the shade of an acacia tree to have lunch and where you can admire the surrounding landscape. . After having lunch and resting we will set off again for another afternoon game drive in search of the cats until sunset, or, if you want you can visit a traditional Masai village, take a look at their homes and their lifestyle. Let yourself be welcomed by the songs and dances of the locals, a sacred ritual that is part of their rich tradition. Return to the tented camp for dinner and overnight stay
Wake up, breakfast, check-out and departure towards Lake Nakuru, a perfect oasis for a different safari.
Lake Nakuru National Park was established in 1961 and is known as a waterfowl sanctuary.
A true paradise for ornithologists and bird watching lovers. The lake is famous for being the place to witness the greatest bird show in the world, as it abounds in algae, attracts and feeds millions of pink flamingos.
Due to the color of their livery, flamingos give Lake Nakuru a suggestive uniform pink color that is unique in the world. In addition to flamingos, the lake attracts over 450 other bird species: Egyptian geese, kingfishers, sea eagles, herons, the endemic secretary bird and many white pelicans crowd the lake shore.
In addition there are marabou storks, often referred to as nature’s “gravedigger” because they feed on the intestines of recently dead flamingos, often in competition with the hyenas that wander around the coast. But not only birds, the park is home to a good number of easily visible mammals, such as hippos which during the day can be seen snorting and splashing in various points around the lake, impalas, lions, leopards, buffaloes and warthogs.
The lake also has a reputation for being an important refuge for endangered species, particularly the Rothschild giraffe and black and white rhinos, so much so that the park is now an important “rhino sanctuary” in Kenya.
Once we arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park, we will stop at the different observation points located on the lake shores to contemplate the famous flamingos up close. However, flamingos are not the only ones to live in this park. At a distance of a few metres, you will be able to observe several buffaloes and rhinos which, being thirsty and hungry, approach the lake waters to drink fresh water and hunt fish or birds. At 1.00 pm arrival at the “Nakuru Sopa Lodge” check-in, buffet lunch and relaxation. After a rest, at 4.00 pm we will leave for another game drive until sunset to see as many animals as possible. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Early wake up, breakfast, check out and departure for the first photo safari of the day with the exit from the park and transfer to the famous Amboseli National Park. Amboseli National Park is one of the most famous parks in Kenya and is known as “the land of giants” for its numerous elephants, but not only that, inside the park, in addition to elephants you can also spot gazelles, impalas , leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, rhinos, hippos, ostriches, zebras, giraffes, etc. etc.
There are also an extraordinary quantity of birds including birds of prey and aquatic birds that concentrate towards the marshes and springs. Amboseli is also the place to go to see the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and the best time to see it is at sunrise or sunset, when the clouds lift and the light is clear. Arrival for lunch at the “Kibo safari camp” located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, check-in, relax and at around 3.30 pm departure for another photo safari towards Lake Amboseli where you can see hippos, flamingos and many others animals.
At sunset we will stop on a panoramic hill for an aperitif and to admire the wonderful landscape. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.
The journey in Kenya continues, wake up early, breakfast, check-out and departure for the first photo safari of the day heading towards the exit of the park, we will then leave Amboseli National Park to enter Tsavo Park East . New scenarios and new emotions will await you…. Once we enter the Tsavo East park, game drive heading to Voi safari logde o sentrim tarhi..
